Martina Massullo is specialist of Islamic Epigraphy. In 2017 she obteined a joint Ph.D. from Aix-Marseille University and the University of Naples “L’Orientale” with a disseration focused on Arabic funerary inscriptions from Ghazni (Afghanistan). From 2018 to 2020, she was Teaching and Research Fellow at the University of Lille and in 2021-2022 she was Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Centre de recherche sur le monde iranien (CeRMI, Paris – CollEx-Persée Residency Program). She is currently member of the Islamic Ghazni Archaeological project (“L’Orientale”, Gerda Henkel Stiftung). Her works are devoted to funerary epigraphy and architecture, monumental epigraphy, inscribed objetcs and material culture of the Islamic world with a particular focus on Eastern Iranian lands.
She collaborates in the project Calligraphies at the Frontiers of the Islamicate World – CallFront with two corpora of marble funerary inscriptions in curvilinear script from Early Ghaznavid and late Timurid Ghazni respectively.
