Recent publications include Malay seals from the Islamic world of Southeast Asia (2019), a catalogue of over 2,000 seals from Southeast Asia inscribed in Arabic script, ‘Qur’an manuscripts from Southeast Asia in British collections’, in Malay-Indonesian Islamic studies: a Festschrift in honor of Peter G. She was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2019.

For the CallFront project she will be working with Dr Ali Akbar on Islamic manuscript (or, more specifically, Arabic-script) cultures from Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Qur’an manuscripts from the present-day nations of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and the Philippines, from the 16th-19th centuries, and also considering the influence of genre and language on calligraphic and palaeographical aspects.
